ASCS Conferences and Proceedings
ASCS 33 (2012) and General Meeting
ASCS 33 will be held next year in Melbourne, hosted by the Classical Studies Program at Monash University. The convenor is Dr Eva Anagnostou-Laoutides. The dates are Sunday 5th to Thursday 9th February 2012.
The venue is the Hellenic Museum on the edge of the Melbourne CBD and close to local trams and on the underground city train loop. It is a heritage-listed building, originally the Melbourne Mint, completed in 1871 and operating until 1968; it has a lovely grassed courtyard at the back which will be nice for the morning break and lunch in the fine Melbourne weather (if there is such a thing!). An invitation has been issued to Professor David Konstan from Brown University to be the keynote speaker.

Past Conferences
ASCS 32 (2011)
ASCS 32, held at the University of Auckland, was a great success. There were about 160+ who attended and there were 140+ papers. It was a happy and academically successful occasion. The organisation, thanks to the efforts of the Convenors, Anne Mackay and Jeremy Armstrong, ran very smoothly; they were ably assisted by an enthusiastic, jolly and helpful band of local students. The facilities of the Owen G. Glenn Building were excellent, and there were tasty morning teas and lunches. The keynote speaker, Professor Christopher Smith, the current Director of the British School at Rome, accompanied by his wife, Susan, were a delight to have around during the conference. Christopher gave generously of his time, attending and contributing to many sessions, in addition to giving a well-attended public lecture on the development of the British School and a paper of his own.

Some of these photographs were taken by Brian Donovan, photographer from the University of Auckland (nos 3, 4, 7, 8, 14, 18, 19, 28, 33 and 35), and most of the others by the Honorary ASCS Secretary, Bruce Marshall, with one or two from other ASCS members.
ASCS 31 (2010)
ASCS 31 was held on the beautiful campus of the University of Western Australia in Perth from 2nd to 5th February 2010 at the excellent facilities of the UWA Club. The Convenor was Lara O’Sullivan, and the keynote speaker was Professor Kurt Raaflaub from Brown University. Around 95 members attended, and there were some 70 papers delivered.
